It's that time of the year.

It's that time of the year again for me.
Meaning very little gaming time and often getting in trouble with guilds etc. for not logging on.
Yes that has happened, no matter what you say, people don't seem to understand and that's fine with me, it's just that time of the year where i sometimes dissapear offline and not show up online because i can't find the energy or because i simply can't.

I am always looking at the bright side and i know the sun will be coming up again and everything will be fine..., just not right now.

3 years of blogging

It completely passed me by, but last month was actually my 3rd year of blogging for this blog :)
so yeah, DING!!

Why do i even bother blogging??

Sometimes i wonder why i even blog and often the thought of just giving up crosses my mind.
Looking at the traffic my blog gets, i see that probably 99.9% of the traffic is of the malicious kind, ranging from simple comment spam to trying to mess with the blogging software/server by trying all kinds of shit.
Luckily i have a lot of stuff installed on this blog that catches almost everything befor they can do harm.

But this kind of shit is exactly why i quit my previous blog several years ago (this is actually my second blog), i just got tired of all those fuckers messing with the blogging software and the spammers, it was just too much...

And by looking at the current traffic on my blog i really do wonder why i still continue doing this, as it just depresses me....

I don't want to let them win, but yeah....

Battlestar Galactica

Just finished watching the last episode of season 3 of Battlestar Galactica.
I think the BSG series would make an awesome game/mmo.

I should be gaming, but i am too caught up in watching Battlestar Galactica season 3 on dvd right now :)

Ding !!

Today marks one year of To Worlds Unknown.
Never thought i would keep it going this long, but one year and i am still here :)

Looking back at my archives, it started kind of slow, but eventually i picked up the pace, this post being post 308 so i've been posting quite a bit since February last year, almost posting daily.

Looking forward to another year of posting :)

The Ultimate Quest: an update

I have been thinking a bit about how i am going to do this, as i think i would be punishing myself by not allowing myself to play any new games before finishing all of the old ones. I don't want to punish myself but i do want to stimulate myself to finish some games.

There are quite a number of games coming out that i am anxiously waiting for (like Rock Band, no it's not out over here or Frontlines: Fuel of War) and with my "playlist" being so huge it would take forever before i could play any of the new games.

So what i was thinking is, i am going to allow myself to play a new game when i finish at least 3 games from my list, so that way, when i add a new title to my "playlist" at least the list goes down by 2 games.

I think this is pretty reasonable, i should be able to finish 3 games within a pretty short period and play the latest games shortly after i get them and it will eventually result in a much shorter list.

Why am i putting this up on my blog, well by putting it here i can't cheat myself :)
It's out in public so i am somewhat "forced" to commit myself to it, 'cause it's pretty obvious i haven't finished most of my games before starting a new one eventhough i was getting annoyed by the huge stack of games that needed to be finished.
About 2 months ago i started by seperating my games and made a pile of the "unfinished" games, so that i knew which games i still needed to finish, with the intend to finish them...

I made a list way back in October last year which was allready an attempt at telling myself i need to finish these games and by looking at that list, i noticed i haven't really finished any of those games in there.

So now that it is up on my blog i will hopefully "force" myself to finish a large part of games from that list.

I also need to give a shout out to Brenden at Another Here, basicly his "The Month of Less is More" gave me the idea to start this, so Brenden, Thanks.

BTW: i did notice i finished at least one game this year: Call of Duty 4 :)
But i am not going to count this one in, so i'll still have to finish 3 games before i get to pick a new one.

Game Designer

I didn't really game much today as i spend most of my time working on my home study course (i am taking a course called "Game Designer").
I won't be getting a degree or a diploma or anything with it but i thought it would be a lot of fun learning more about what it takes to design a game and to (try) make games myself.

Basicly most of the material used in this course comes from two books:
1. Fundamentals of Game Design by Ernest adams and Andrew Rollings
2. The Game Maker's Apprentice: Game development for beginners by Mark Overmars (link)

The second book has a sofware tool called "Game Maker", used to create games.

The course also comes with lots of cool, classic DOS games like Cannon Fodder, James Pond, MDK and Frogger.

So far it's lots of fun, still have about four months of study to go.

My first computer

I still have it :)

RL being a bitch

Well i finaly got "well" enough to have a little playsession.
Been recovering from an infection in my right lung (pneumonia), quite painfull and difficult breathing.

But just a few hours ago i felt fit enough to turn on my computer and have a little go, i probably shouldn't be staying up to long though, so i'm gonna be heading of to bed pretty soon.

On a positive note, i've had no desire whatsoever for a cigarette in the last (almost) 4 days (hmm okay, sarcasm off)

EDIT: o, yeah, since NDA has been lifted i can actually say that i played a little bit of Tabula Rasa (been in that beta since July 3rd)

I've been working on my "computer project" and i will be recieving my first new parts soon and can't wait to start putting it together and am even more excited to see it work ingame.
I should have some really big improvements compared to my present computer :)
