Dude, where's my ring!

lotroclient 2009-01-09 19-03-00-59

Finally been getting back into LOTRO, changing from Bree-Land to The Shire, definatly changed my gaming experience.
I was getting very frustrated with Bree-Land and The Shire turned out to be very refreshing and fun.

So far i have reached level 19 on my main Hunter, Cynheiddon.

I recently decided i "had" to get back into LOTRO, because i figured having a lifetime sub and not actually playing it was a waste.
So my intentions are to keep playing LOTRO, i even bought the expension Mines of Moria eventhough my highest lvl char is only 19 and from what i understand minimum lvl for Mine of Moria is lvl 50.
But i figured i will get there eventually if i keep playing.

The only things that annoy me is the fact that a lot of the cool quests turn into group quests and since i work shifts i am on at different (wierd) times and it is often very hard to find a group, which means i can't do the quests unless i level up to a level where i can beat them solo.

The other thing that sometimes annoy me is the directions you get for some quests, sometimes it takes very long to find a mob, try finding a single mob or item that is suppose to be north-east of a city.... i mean that could be anywhere on the map.
I would definatly love a quest helper that at leasts points you in the right direction, i love exploring but sometimes it gets very frustrating (and of course i turn to the web for an answer).

The Chronicles of Spellborn

sb_client 2009-01-08 08-12-37-20

Been playing quite a bit of Chronicles of Spellborn and i have to say there's something about it that i like.
It looks great and is fun to play, so far i have reached level 7 on my main and i am about to leave the starting zone.

I started playing it because it was "free to play", but found out this free to play was only up to level 7, which i reached pretty quickly.
But i actually took a subscription to play this a bit more.

Definatly an interresting game and great looking art style, although i personally don't like the character models, but the world looks awesome.

Holiday fun

Over the christmas holidays i didn't do a whole lot of gaming, i was enjoying my stay in Turkey :)

Although i did bring my PSP with a "new" game, and i did have a few moments were i took it out to play a little.
That game was Star Wars The Force Unleashed.
I played two sessions until i got stuck in a wall and had to do the entire level again :(

So not a whole lot of gaming done, but still having lots of fun :)

Mount & Blade, my game of the year!

mount&blade 2008-12-22 09-38-43-37

For the last couple of days i have been completely hooked to Mount & Blade.
I did start playing a bit of The Chronicles of Spellborn, but Mount & Blade quickly took my attention away and is right now all i play.

Admitted the title doesn't sound great, the graphics and character models look like 10 years ago but the gameplay is awesome.
Some of the "big" game makers should really take a look at this game.

This game is kind of a mix with RPG, action and strategy, but the thing they did very well was the horse/mounted combat, this is just awesome to play and it feels close to perfect (admitted it might not work perfect in an PvP environment but it works for PvE).
And then to think this game is (from what i have read) mostly made by a husband and wife team!!

This is definatly one of the most fun games i have played this year and really makes me wonder why the "big" gamemakers can't come up with great stuff like that.
For me a game usually stands or falls with the graphics/character models unless the gameplay makes up for all and with Mount & Blade it definatly does, looking at the hours i clocked so far on playing this game (68 hours and counting) it's my number one game for this year, even beating Fallout 3 for me.

So if you haven't, definatly check out this game, there's a full functioning demo out there that let's you play the (full) game up to level 7 without restrictions.
I have to admit when i first read about this game and saw the screenshots i was not really interrested but after seeing IGN give the game an 8 in a review i decided to check it out and am i glad i did :)

So looking at the amount of hours i played this game and the fun i am having i would probably say this is my game of the year!

Hmm, wonder what this game would be like with an engine like unreal or Gamebryo and a few tweaks here and there.....

Finishing Mass Effect and Broadcasting my gaming sessions.

MassEffect 2008-12-10 18-29-18-09

Went through Mass Effect for the first time, really loving it.
Started another run right after finishing it the first time.

Also finally found out why the Xfire broadcasting didn't work for me...
Apperantly Xfire doesn't work too well if you have Fraps running, have to exit Fraps to be able to broadcast through Xfire, major bummer...

So now that i have that working you might be able to see me game live, just goto www.hauntshade.net and it will forward you to my Xfire broadcast page and you can see if i am broadcasting or not.
The first time you visit this page it will ask you to install a plugin to be able to see the video though.
I have been watching some broadcasts and been broadcasting myself and have to say it works great and awesome quality, a lot better than the way i did before using Ustream.

Bring down the sky

MassEffect 2008-12-07 17-22-53-64

Got kind of bored with KOTOR 2, somehow i just didn't like it as much as KOTOR 1, i guess the storyline just didn't "capture" me, so i decided to get Mass Effect instead :)
I allready played it on the Xbox but i am really a PC gamer, don't like playing long sessions on the Xbox.
So i went to D2D and got Mass Effect, it was a lot cheaper (almost half the price) than getting it in the shop.

So far i am having a lot of fun playing, it was an awesome game on the Xbox but i think it's a lot better on PC :)
Also got the downloadable content, "Bring down the sky" for free with the order

Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic

swkotor 2008-11-29 09-27-36-48

Been playing nothing but KOTOR the last couple of days, completely hooked.
Can't believe i only played through it once!

Having lots of fun and discovering some quests i don't remember doing the first time around.
Going through it on light side but thinking about trying dark side for another run.

Also installed KOTOR 2, probably up next :)
