Hero of the Little Computer People

I've been trying to piece together my (vintage) collection of computer games with the help of Game Collector by Collectorz.com and i have to say finding back all those games is a lot of fun, pulling them out of storage one by one.

But to me there are two of my games that stand out, that i have some of the best memories of.

First one is one i probably allready talked about :)

That's H.E.R.O. for the Atari 2600. (Wikilink)

Basicly what you do in this game is save people (miners) form mineshafts with the use of explosives a laser and a helicopter backpack, hence the name H.E.R.O. - Helicopter Emergency Rescue Operation.

I spend many hours playing this "against" my father beating eachothers score over and over and over again.
I still see it as one of the best games ever made.

The second game that came to me was Little Computer People for the Commodore 64. (Wikilink)

I guess you could call this game the sims of the day, or maybe even what started the (idea of) sims.
Most of the gameplay consists of keeping your littlle computer person happy, fed, entertained and occasionally pet him.
And he just lived there, being happy (if you took good care of him) or died if you didn't pay him any attention.
Back then, the idea of a little person living inside your computer was pretty awesome, nowadays you laugh but back then as a kid, in the 80's on a commodore 64....

Anyways, many hours i spend "playing" this game (or was this game playing me??), let alone the countless hours of sleep lost over taking care of my little computer person.

If you are a big sims fan i really recommend checking this game out.

So yeah, there you have it, these two games are absolutely my two favorites among my old games, of course there are a lot more classics like that and really good games, but you can only have a few favorites :)

Too busy...

I'm too busy right now to get some good gaming time, however i did play a little bit of Space Robot on my Atari 2600, but didn't manage to beat my highscore on it.

Atari 2600 Joystick on the PC

Recieved my Stelladaptor today, now i can finally play Atari 2600 roms on my pc with the original Atari 2600 joysticks on a USB port, which plays a lot better than a modern joystick or keyboard when playing the roms.
Was definitely worth ordering, gonna be a whole lot of fun :)

H.E.R.O.

Finally got past level 20 in H.E.R.O. after that it's level: Pro.
Still enjoying playing on my Atari 2600 a lot.

Games i'v been playing

Just a couple of Atari 2600 games i've been playing:
Berzerk, Galaxian, Defender, Deadly Discs, Space Invaders, Pitfall 2.



Funny how much fun these old games are to play, so much that i've not been logging in to any of my mmo's for days or played any of the latest games.
I've been planning to play some Tabula Rasa, SWG, UT3 or Crysis but can't tear myself away from my Atari 2600..

Stargate

Stargate is a lot of fun to play, awesome gameplay.

Too much fun ??

Again today i didn't do much pc gaming (apart from the late nighter playing UT3 yesterday), i am having way too much fun playing my old (and "new") Atari 2600 games :)

Games like H.E.R.O., Dig Dug, Stargate and Pitfall are loads of fun to play.

Another weblog

I just started another "weblog".
It's called Atari 2600 High Scores by Hauntshade.

This blog is kind of what the title says, it's where i keep track of my high scores with games played on my Atari 2600.

Anyway i am off to play some Unreal Tournament 3 :)

Lock 'n' Chase

Really should get back to some mmo's but so far i am still having loads of fun playing the Atari 2600 games, like Lock 'n' Chase :)
It's funny how "simple" old games can still be so much fun, it's not about the looks but all about fun gameplay and the Atari 2600 has lots of them.

H.E.R.O.

Still playing mostly Atari 2600 games, finally got a bit further in H.E.R.O., made it to level 15.

And started playing Pitfall :)



I am having lots of fun playing the old Atari again.

H.E.R.O.

Finally found a ROM version of H.E.R.O. (IMHO one of the best games for the Atari 2600), so i can play it on my PC.
Brings back lots of memories, funny how i still remember some of the levels, still a great game,wish they made a "modern" version out of this.

Anyway on my first attempt i made it to level 12 (out of 20) :)
