Restless Gamer Syndrome

I guess it has something to do with the time of the year.
Somehow most of the year i am pretty happy playing whatever i am playing, however when i gets towards that last few months of the year it seems as if i am getting bored/unhappy with the games i am playing and start looking for new games to play and jump from one to another.

Don't know if it is just me or if other gamers have the same thing :)

So i have been looking and playing (and trying) lots of games, lately and one of my favorite places to check for games has become kickstarter.
There are quite a few games that have caught my attention and i can't wait to check those games out.
Here's just a few:
Wasteland 2 - http://kck.st/yDcMry
Shadowrun Returns - http://kck.st/HgUlMj
Project Eternity - http://kck.st/Sl7W7K
Star Citizen - http://kck.st/RXG0Z8
Shadowgate - http://kck.st/VsUwJ9
Sui Generis - http://kck.st/PkmGrD
Limit Theory - http://kck.st/WivH2X
Elite: Dangerous - http://kck.st/YN6rVC
The Infection Simulation - http://kck.st/RdYtVP

Other than that i have been getting back into some of my "old" games like The Sims 3, Darkstar One, Freelancer and of course the Steam sale left me with many games to play...
I am also having lots of fun in Sleeping Dogs, always like these open world kinda games and i think it is one of the reasons why i actually play MMO's, just to get that feeling of an open (big) world to explore and adventure in.
I have also been looking at some browser games like World of Steam (Beta), Drakensang Online and Battlestar Galactica Online.

At the moment i just can't get myself to play any of my MMO's, although i did play a little WoW just to check out Mists of Pandaria but other than that it's mostly singleplayer games i am playing.

Another thing that might have contributed. was the fact that i (re)discovered cycling during my summer hollidays and started cycling a lot and enjoying it a lot, that got my mind off of gaming and i didn't play much the months after that (hence the long period of me not gaming/blogging).
Until a couple of weeks ago the weather was quite pleasent to be cycling, but with the cold weather lately i guess my interrest in gaming got back :)

Now to get into my huge backlog of games..

Manage this!

fm 2011-10-07 13-46-58-28

I just realised i have been ignoring my blog, a lot..
One of the main reasons is i have been gaming a lot, and not my usual games either.

Years ago one of my main "guilty pleasures" were manager games and i didn't care much what kind of management games, but the main ones i was playing back then were Football and Formula 1.
I can loose myself in these games for days/weeks.

At the moment i have been playing Football Manager 2011 like a madman and the funny thing is, i don't even like football (soccer), but the managing aspect makes up for that.
It's just a lot of fun trying to get a winning team together within the limitations you have. Negotiating with players or staff.
Putting together a team and than see how they do out on the field is really fun, especially if you start winning.

I started with these type of games in the late 90's when i played games like "Grand Prix Manager 2" a Formula 1 management game where you managed an F1 team, damn i don't even remember how much i played this but it must have been a lot, to this day i still think it's one of the best (F1) management games out there and i probably played all of these F1 management games back then.
Although my first experiences with these type of games was even longer ago, i remember going crazy on a Commodore 64 game called "Endzone" which was an American Football manager game published in 1990.

Somehow i always have periods when i find these games again and get the urge to play them.
Eventually i will probably get bored with this game and go back to my "regular" gaming but until than i am having lots of fun playing my "guilty pleasure" :)

SWTOR: Well it's not a lightsaber but....

Most SWTOR fans probably allready heard/read about this, but i still wanted to make a post about this awesome Razer SWTOR gear.

Razer is releasing a keyboard, mouse, mousemat and headset all awesome looking IMHO.
I regret i recently got myself a new (Razer) keyboard and headphones, cause i definitely want this gear, the keyboard looks absolutely stunning, just check out this video of the keyboard:

I really like the idea of changing the "theme" of the gear depending on which side you are playing at the moment, this is really gonna help the immersion into the game.

I have yet to see it available, but i will be buying some of that gear.

Screenshots of a lifetime

Like many gamers i am one of those that always tries to document my gaming adventures by taking lots of screenshots.
Today i had a look at my screenshots folder only to see that it has grown pretty large.
screenshots

Over 10 gigs worth of screenshots.
17504 screenshots in 123 folders (games), that's a lot of gaming..

This is the oldest screenshot i could find, dating back to 2005, before that i never kept screenshots for long.

Cantina Dantooine 03

Every now and then i like to go through my screenies folder and try to remember the moments i took them, always fun :)

Alone in a big world

The reason i like mmo's so much is basicly because of the RPG part.
I really like/enjoy exploring big open worlds.

To me mmo's are just RPG's with the exception there is a lot more stuff to do, there are actual people in the same world and the game basicly never ends.
With most RPG's you're eventually going to run out of things to do and unless there are mods (like for example Oblivion) for the game you are done. True you could run out of stuff to do in an mmo, but for me that has never happened.
The other people playing the mmo with you make it more fun to run an instance more than once, something i would hardly do when playing an (singleplayer) RPG.

One of the things i also enjoy is the feeling of a "living" world where stuff changes according to actions in game, unfortianatly we don't see that much in MMO's, one thing does come to mind that was somewhat of a living world and that was Tabula Rasa where you would have several bases that would fall into enemy hands without players fighting for it, the bases were under constant attack and if the players would loose the enemy took over and players would have to fight to get it back.
I really enjoyed this and i could often be found fighting or defending these bases instead of questing.

You could argue wether this is actually changing the world, but to me it felt that way, it felt like i was making a difference when taking over the base was a success and my allies took over the base.

Maybe it is also a bit of a negative that i like RPG's so much as i often do spend most of my time in mmo's playing solo and only group up with other people when i have to for dungeons etc, even still i would rather level up and take a mob that i couldn't beat solo at later level, basicly out leveling the mob.
As a result of course i don't get to raiding content, mostly because of the elite attitude of a large percent of the player population demanding you to have x amounts of achievements and certain gear.
The random dungeon finder in World of Warcraft is of course a great tool for getting into dungeons and experience that side of the game without that elitism and i do enjoy using it and have fun trying to get through a dungeon.

But more often than not i return to solo play because i simply enjoy exploring, going into new areas, go see what's behind that mountain over there, discover great scenery/views, i love getting completely immersed in the world i am exploring and have a feeling i made a difference in the end.

I really would like to play Alpha Protocol but..

Sometimes i come across a game that doesn't work very well with my 3840x1024 screen resolution, unfortianatly Alpha Protocol is one of those.

Eventhough the game works, it's menu screens are partially off screen, meaning i can't click anything to agree or like in the screenshot below, can't select a class to play.
apgame 2010-05-29 14-56-52-20

Usually i get by this by selecting a smaller screen resolution, like for example Mass Effect (1&2) they both have the same problem where the menu buttons were off screen, but i selected a 1280x1024 resolution and i could play the game, not the way i would like but at least i could play.

Alpha Protocol however, i can't even change the resolution, as i can't get to the button to accept a new resolution (if there is one)
apgame 2010-05-29 14-57-12-79

There is also no option to change the resolution before starting the game, even messing around with the games .Ini files did nothing as the game just started up in 3840x1024 resolution.

To all game developers, is it so hard to at least make a menu screen that adapts to the screen resolution, no matter what it is, so that you can get to all options...

Looks like, unless they fix this, which is very unlikely as not many gamers would have this problem, i won't be able to play any Alpha Protocol, so i just wasted 50 Euros..

Gaming in 3840x1024 resolution on 3 monitors

For some time now i have been playing with a screen resolution of 3840x1024 and i have to say i am never going back, i really feel like i am missing out when playing on a smaller resolution :)

DSCN0182

Sometimes i do get a game that doesn't support a resolution like this or the game simply won't work properly because of menu screens extending beyond the resolution so i can't click on the "ok" button (like Mass Effect does). But i am glad to see that most games nowadays do support those resolution. I am aware that i am probably one of very few gamers that play with resolutions this big so i really think it is awesome when a game supports it.

So how do i manage to get a big resolution like this across 3 screens?
Well pretty easy, i am using the Matrox TripleHead2Go Digital Edition.
DSCN0187

Basicly this little device sits between your monitor(s) and your PC and it makes Windows think that this is just one monitor (Windows only sees one monitor).
There is some software coming with this device, so that you can make a game compatible with resolutions like this but most games nowadays will just give the option to set it to a 3840x1024 resolution.

What else am i using to power this rig, well i have an Nvidia GTX295 in there with an Intel core 2 quad processor and 4 gigs of memory, I also used to have an Ageia Physx card in there but with that GTX295 i felt it was kind of overkill.
DSCN0189

Just to be able to use the max amount of ram and make use of Directx 10 i recently upgraded from WinXP to Win7 and i have to say i am really enjoying Win7.

Of course i also added some stuff to make the rig look cool :)
DSCN0188

For a full rundown of all components (if you are interrested in that) you can go here and see a full list of all my gaming gear.

Needless to say it is a lot of fun gaming with a resolution like this, the view is somtimes breathtaking, not to mention the fact that i can have many (inventory) windows open without them obscuring my view, this of course is especially helpfull in MMO's.

For the first 15 to 30 minutes i really had to get used to this, because all of a sudden you see a lot of movement in front of you, you basicly look at the center screen and the two other screens kind of act like the corners of your eyes, and you basicly get what Matrox calls surround gaming, really makes it feel like real life where you can see in the corner of your eyes, but it also takes a little time to get used to as sometimes it feels like everything is moving in front of your eyes, so if you get motion sickness this might not be the setup for you.

Right now i am limited to a 3840x1024 resolution because i am using three 19inch (1280x1024) monitors, but i am allready looking at possibilities to get even bigger resolutions/monitors :)

Free Roaming

Lately i have been having a lot of fun again in games like Just Cause 2 and Saints Row 2 and it really made me think about what it is that i am enjoying so much in them.
Well it basicly came down to "free roaming". Having a huge world at your disposal and go wherever you want to go to explore or do whatever you want to do.

I also think this is one of the main reasons for me to play MMO's, having this huge world to explore and have adventures in, however in MMO's you are often limited by levels, which i think is a major dissapointment.

It has happend often to me, that i would wonder of into the world to explore only to suddenly find myself surrounded by mobs that can one shot me, kill me on sight. Of course than starts the (very) annoying task of trying to get out of there in one piece, back to an area where my character can actually survive.

I really wish MMO's could be more "Free Roaming", no more levels (or everything scaled down/up to your level), so that you can actually explore everything and do whatever you like and enjoy the world for what it is, as i am pretty sure that all games have their areas, those moments where you actually stop what you're doing and enjoy what you are seing in front of you, without being constantly attacked.

I guess that is why i keep going back to games like Saints Row 2, so that i can actually enjoy a big world without boundaries, without level restrictions and just have fun, afterall isn't that why we play games?

Hitting that cancel button is hard

After almost an entire month without hardly playing any of my (subscription) MMO's, i am again starting to think i really need to cancel them, i mean it's a waste to be subscribed when you don't play..

So far in a month time i have played (according to Raptr):
79 hours of Mount & Blade: Warband
39 hours of Age of Conan
11 hours of Dragon Age: Origins
10 hours of Star Trek Online
4 hours of World of Warcraft
92 mins of Mass Effect 2

The only "real" subscription games in there for me are Age of Conan and World of Warcraft, for Star Trek Online i have a lifetime sub, and you could wonder if 4 hours of gameplay warrents a subscription to WoW.

I also have a SOE Station Access running, which of course gives me access to Everquest, Everquest 2, Pirates of the Burning Sea, Star Wars Galaxies, Vanguard and Free Realms, however i haven't touched any of those games and i am starting to wonder why i am keeping this sub. Of course considering what you get for your money Station Access is definatly worth the money but if you're not playing..
The only real reason i can come up with for myself is i wanne keep my sub to SWG going (the sub has been running since 2004), for some reason i just can't say goodbye to SWG eventhough i don't really play it, i might log in every now and then and walk around my house a bit and collect veteren rewards when i get them and do some decorating, but other than that i am not playing it anymore.
So i should maybe just cancel the Station Access and if i still want just pay for SWG only (i just can't say goodbye to SWG).

Then there are my 2 one year subs, Fallen Earth and Age of Conan, i am not really playing Fallen Earth much anymore, i do like the game and i have a sub since launch, but when you're not logging in..

As for Age of Conan, well i recently logged in and played it for a couple of days and i definatly enjoy the world of Conan and still think it's a great game, but until recently i didn't touch it much. This game is on my doubt list, i really do wanna play it more, whenever i do log in i am really enjoying myself and think this is a great game, but i usually find myself playing it a couple of days and then not log in for quite some time.

Of course the "problem" is that i allready payed for a full year subscription for those two games, so i can't really cancel them until the time runs out.

As for WoW, well that will expire in July, so i might not renew that sub, i still think it's a great and fun game to play, but it's probably the first to go, 4 hours in a month time is not a whole lot, besides what i actually enjoy the most about WoW is everything surrounding it, the whole armory thing and the way you can use feeds to show/share what you're doing with you char.
Then there were the times where i subscribed for a month, played a few hours and the next time i logged in i had to resub again..

Then of course i have the games i don't need to worry about as i have a lifetime for those, Star Trek Online and Lord of the Rings Online, i have played STO quite a bit and i do enjoy this game, but to me this really is an "on the side" game.
As for LOTRO, well i don't remember the last time i touched it..

I am really starting to feel i should cancel some subscriptions and that way "force" myself to play more on my lifetime sub games, but i have been feeling that for quite some time now (allready wrote a couple of blogposts about this) and that probably means i should act on it.
I always keep telling myself i am gonna log in and play those games, but in the end i just don't log in at all or i play for a few hours every couple of months.

Maybe having too much choice on what to play isn't good and i should just focus on a few games and actually play them.

Dragon Age: (A Rough) Awakening

DAOrigins 2010-03-21 13-04-04-72

First impression of Dragon Age: Awakening, was one of suprise, i imported my character and was very suprised to see her show up without armor and weapons. Turns out non of the previous DLC works with this expension, so my character started fighting in her underwear and without "Starfang" that awesome sword.
DAOrigins 2010-03-20 16-31-21-17
In my opinion a bad choice, afterall this is an expension to the original, so i should have access to all the DLC.

As soon as i started playing, i started having crashing issues, first idea i had was to turn off any/all third party mods, which seem to stop the crashing, so yeah third party mods not (yet) working with the new expension.

I managed to get quite a few hours into the game and am now at the point where i entered "The Fade" and there is no way to keep going, the game just keeps crashing to the desktop, no matter what i try.
So far it has been a nice experience, i did enjoy the story, but i do get a little feeling that there's more EA behind this expansion than BioWare, as in EA pushing BioWare to publish despite some problems and also to me it feels a bit unfinished, especially if you can't use any of the previous DLC.
It just feels like it was rushed out of the door to keep the Dragon Age franchise "hot".

I am hoping for some patches soon, as it seems more people are having these crashing issues, until this expansion i had no issues with Dragon Age besides the loading times getting longer and longer as you play(which i am also experiencing with this expansion), but that was no issue to me as i would ussually take a little time and save and restart the game.
It also seems that EA does not support this game for Windows 7 64-bit, their "advise" install another operating system.... Now i know EA is only the publisher, but that's not the kind of advise you want to hear.

I am just hoping i am seeing things that aren't there and that BioWare is still in full control of their IP's, but then again the recent news about EA's expectations for Star Wars: The Old Republic are not very encouraging.
I am still having some trust in BioWare and will wait for a patch to come out soon that will fix some of the issues. In the mean time i will keep trying to get past the fade, so that i can (hopefully) continue this game.
Anyways, hope that, when you are reading this, you are not having the same problems..

You've lost that lovin' feelin'

Somehow i think that, the problems i am having with MMO's nowadays is mostly due to that feeling of being in that first MMO you play.

For me that was Star Wars Galaxies, way back in 2004, before i had mainly played shooters and simracing games. After playing Star Wars Knight of the Old Republic and quite a bit of "forum roleplaying" in the Star Wars universe, i really had an itch for (role)playing inside a universe with actual graphics, at that time SWG was being launched so obviously i was all over it :)
Unfortianatly my PC at that time couldn't handle SWG, so i had to upgrade, which of course i did as soon as i could.
So when that first day came and i logged in a whole new (scary) world/universe opened up for me, a world of adventure, exploration and new encounters and very important: the unknown.

Why is it, i am not finding that in any new MMO?
Is it because essentially nothing is really new, because all MMO's are technicly the same?
It probably is.

It's probably also the reason why so many MMO's fail to meet the hype that's created around them.
Many people are probably like me and with each new MMO we hope this one will capture that feeling we had in our first MMO.
I still have my hopes up for an MMO to show up to give me that feeling again, but i doubt this will ever happen.

For now there isn't much on my horizon, but i do have some hope for Star Wars: The Old Republic, although i doubt it will live up to those expectations, i have no doubt it's gonna be a great game, but i am pretty sure it will not be "the second coming", and no doubt many bloggers/MMO players will be dissapointed.
As for me, well i'll probably play it and enjoy it for what it is, but i doubt it's going to bring back that "feeling".

Free 2 Play versus Subscription

AOgame 2010-03-15 01-35-02-21

Lately i have been looking a lot at Free2Play games, like Allods Online (which i've been enjoying quite a bit), i have re-installed Runes of Magic & Sword of the New World, signed up for Aika Online and i am still looking for more.

I might not keep playing some of them, but that's why i am trying out/returning to so many games.

The main reason behind it is that i am currently paying for so many subscriptions, yet i play most of them very little.
Right now i feel like i don't have a game that "i wann go home and play" with, i use to have that with Star Wars Galaxies and Tabula Rasa. So right now i am "jumping from" game to game, cause i like to play all of them, yet i feel i don't play them enough.

Currently i am subscribed to Age of Conan, Fallen Earth, World of Warcraft, i have the SOE Station Access so i can play Everquest, Everquest 2, Star Wars Galaxies, Vanguard, Pirates of the Burning Sea. I also have lifetime subs for Lord of the Rings Online and Star Trek Online.
Looking at my gameplay hours on Raptr and Xfire, i have to conclude that i do play those games, but over a long period, it's very little and more and more i am beginning to doubt if it is worth the subscriptions i am paying, i tend to play a game fora few days (sometimes) and really enjoy it but then i move to another game and some games i don't play for several months, yet i am still paying for them.

So i guess the Free2Play model is really starting to sound more and more interresting, although looking at the games you can't really compare the to subs based games (yet), although i think Allods Online is on the right path. I can spend a little money here or there to support the game and if i am not playing, well i am not paying so..

I also really enjoy the lifetime subs, sure they're a lot of money at the start but i think in the long run it will pay off as i never have to pay for a sub and i don't feel as guilty if i don't play them for a long while.

So until i find that one game that i wanne go home for to log in, i guess i'll keep jumping from game to game..

Lifetime subs, the way to go!

After recently purchasing my second lifetime subscribtion (to Star Trek Online, I allready own a lifetime sub to Lord of the Rings Online), I am really starting to think about cancelling (all) monthly subscriptions.

Lifetime subs, I think are really the way to go for MMO's.

Personally I really like the idea of paying once and just being able to play whenever i want/like without worrying on whether or not I payed my subscription.
Although you're paying a large amount of money at the start, I really think in the end it's worth it.

You're showing the Devs you trust them by commiting yourself to their game when it comes out and to trust their "vision" of the game in the long run.
It's also very save to say you're gonna be buying any expansions they'll put out in the future.

Now I know people are gonna claim that servers will have to be paid for, well look at Guild Wars, they seem to be doing ok with just the amount of money they get from box sales (and of course RMT) and their expansions. So there must be a way to make it work for MMO's as well.

I really think it's just a way of having an easy money tree.
Players are simply forced to pay up or they're not playing.

I think the way Hellgate: London did it was awesome (or at least better), you could pay for a subscription to play online, as in MMO, but if you didn't want that, you could still play the game offline as single player.
Of course Hellgate London also showed the risk of getting a lifetime sub, when the game shuts down, your lifetime is gone..

I am sad i finished Dragon Age

DAOrigins 2009-11-07 16-40-29-70

I finished Dragon Age Origins and i am kind of sad.
I really enjoyed the game but i am sad because you can't continue playing after you defeated the Archdemon.

According to my achievements i finished 75% of the game.

I can start up the game with my character that finished the game, but the only cities/regions i can access are the DLC locations, but since i allready completed those during the normal playthrough, there is nothing to do anymore, no fighting, no exploring.

Really wish i could just continue playing it, but i guess i'll have to start a new game..

I think this is a really bad choise, especially if it's such an awesome game.
You spend a lot of time developing/leveling your character and can't go back to play.

I hated Fallout 3 for it (although i still played it) until they changed it so you could keep exploring after finishing the main storyline, in fact i went out of my way to not finish it.

I also really enjoyed the fact that in Mass Effect 2, you can import your character from Mass Effect 1, so it kinda feels like you continue to play with your first character.

Now of course, Dragon Age Awakening is coming (and i allready pre-ordered), so i'll have something to look forward to, i (on purpose) haven't read or watched anything about it, but i do hope i can continue to play it with my current character..

Steam for the win!

I've been using Steam for quite some time now, and have to say i am really beginning to love it more and more.
I do sometimes hate the fact that steam can be quite expensive (i have bought games on steam that i actualy could have got cheaper in a store).

Recently i went on vacation, which usually means no gaming, however this time i brought my laptop with me, with steam installed.
I actually played quite a bit of Torchlight and currently steam offers the "steam cloud" with Torchlight, which basicly means all my game data (saved game) is stored online, so when i got home and fired up Torchlight on my PC, it instantly synched with steam and got the latest saved game, so i could continue where i left the game, without having to move saved game files around.

Another thing i really enjoyed just in the last couple of days, was the fact that i installed Windows 7 on my gaming rig, which meant losing a lot of games that were installed on Windows XP, but first thing i did when i got things running was, installing steam and it showed all the games i owned and i could immediatly start installing them from steam, just f'ing awesome, no messing around with installation discs, no downloading patches, nothing. Done in no time, just wish i had more of my games on steam and i truly wish there was a way to have all your saved game files "in the cloud" as i did loose quite a few saved games..

Damn why is steam so awesome..

No more levels please, lemme go where i wanna go!

Red Faction Guerilla

Lately i have been having a lot of fun in single player, open world type of games, like Red Faction Guerilla, Mercenaries 2 (on Xbox as PC version is a very poor buggy port).
I really enjoy the fact that it is not really level based and you can go wherever you want, unlike MMO's where, if you do that you are likely to end up in a zone where the mobs could be like 10 levels above you and kill you instantly or you get to zones where you can't take any of the quests because your level is too low.

I often like to do basicly nothing in a game and just go out and explore, i really hate having to go and unlock certain parts of the world (like GTA4) and being forced to follow the main story to do so.

I am really starting to get annoyed by gameplay that restricts me from doing stuff because i am not the "appropriate" level.
If i see a huge world i just wanna go out and explore it and if i feel like it i'll pick up a quest or two along the way and be distracted by another while on a quest. I enjoy getting "lost" in a game, i feel that really helps to immerse myself in a game.

So yeah lately i am really more into playing these single player games than MMO's... Can't wait to start playing Dragon Age and Mass Effect 2..

Oh yeah, stay away from the PC version of Mercenaries 2, i love this game and it works great on the Xbox but on PC it just isn't playable (for me), i have a pretty high end machine but i can't play it without the game stuttering/freezing/hanging, just by doing nothing in the game, with all settings to the lowest possible i see the game drop from over 260 FPS to 10 FPS and even freezing for several seconds and from what i can tell by googleing it has been a problem since the game released on PC in 2008!!! so it looks like there is no support for the PC version.
I recommend it for the console but the PC version is a waste of money :(

Red Faction Guerilla on the other hand works perfectly, i got it of off Steam and it instantly worked even with my unusual 3840x1024 screen resolution, without having to change any settings, in other words a perfect console to PC port!

Riddle me this Batman

Batman Arkham Asylum 2009-09-19 05-48-34-01

So i got a little sidetracked from Fallen Earth :)
I bought Batman: Arham Asylum through D2D cause i heard so much about it, i wanted to wait for the PC version, and guess what it is a lot of fun :)

So far i am only 3% into the game (according to the gamestats) and it's really fun and so far i'd have to say one of the better ports, no issues so far with the camera, controls or anything.

Batman has always been kind of my favorite comics character and this game definatly feels "right". Although it has been quite some years since i read any Batman comics, think the last ones were the Dark Knight series and the Killing Joke, who were awesome.

EDIT: of course i spoke too soon, once again Games For Windows Live is screwing up... it want's to update the game and disconnects me from GfWL if i don't update, updating gets stuck close to finishing and just sits there...
GFWL YOU SUCK!!

I know i am late to the party, but i only just started playing Neverwinter Nights and i have to say so far i am loving it.
The gameplay is so much fun i don't even notice the graphics :)

If you haven't played it yet (you probably have), you should definatly give it a go.
If you love RPG's, this is absolutely a "not to miss" game.

I have the "platinum edition" so i stil have plenty of game time left, but i allready have Neverwinter Nights 2 in the mail, plus i understand there is a lot of community made mods out there, so i dont'think i'll get bored playing this :)

They say time flies when you're having fun, well my first gaming session lasted 6 hours and i didn't even realised i had been playing that long...

Into Oblivion and beyond

Oblivion 2009-08-10 07-11-04-07

Been spending a lot of time playing Oblivion and Fallout 3 mostly.
Decided to try get back into Oblivion, eventhough i previously had troubles with a corrupt savegame.

Just installed a lot of mods and (community made) fixes and low and behold my savegame started working again.
Before, the game would crash right after loading into the game as soon as i started moving.
But since installing the mods/fixes everything is working again.

I think it'sjust awesome to see how many really outstanding mods are made for this game, it definatly extends the gameplay.
And playing this game at a 3840x1024 resolution is really awesome.
Really been loving my time back in Oblivion

Currently my gaming hours are cut a bit short due to computer problems, seems my new quadcore processor is not supported by my motherboard and is causing read/write erors in the RAM, really sucks, especially since the latest BIOS dates back to may 2008.
But new processor (which is even better and more important supported) is ordered so hopefully i will be fixing this in the next few days.

I did finally get back into a little MMO time, decided to check LOTRO out again, of course this game looks stunning in 3840x1024 and with the help of my new GTX 295 videocard (and my old 8800GTX as a PhysX card instead of my Ageia PhysX card) it runs quite well between 40-70 FPS

Just a look at how my character currently looks in Fallout 3, with the help of some cool mods :)
